For the Medvedyuk family from the village of Ratny in Volyn, one of the most difficult was probably the same operating day - November 1, 2019, when the Amosov Christina Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery surgically removed the heart defect. And although for the girl this operation was the second in a row, the heart of Oksana Vladimirovna’s mother that day excitedly beat beat by beat: How will everything go?
Before the operation, surgeon Ihor Ditkovsky went to his mother and said that the hole in the heart septum was almost half as large as the ultrasound showed, its edges were uneven, the largest occluder was needed - a special device that "patches" the heart. Oksana Volodymyrivna was even more worried, but she relied on the doctor in everything and ... she waited. Time lasted unbearably long, but an hour later, doctors allowed Oksana Vladimirovna to go to Christina, her daughter gradually recovered from anesthesia. And three days later they were discharged from the hospital home: the installation of the occluder is considered a gentle procedure and, according to doctors, does not require a long stay in the hospital.
Now Christina has undergone all the necessary examinations at the Amosov Clinic and the Institute of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, and all doctors have confirmed that there is no reason to worry: the girl’s heart is working properly, blood passes through the occluder, the hole is securely closed and attacks will not recur. Oksana Volodymyrivna says that Khrystyna never showed her excitement, never said: I don’t want to, I won’t do it, she was patient with all doctor’s visits. Although inside, of course, very worried.
Now that the occluder is just taking root (it must be overgrown with natural cells), Christina has a few limitations, and quite unexpected. For example, she was temporarily banned from singing!
Oksana Volodymyrivna says: “For the first three months they told me to be careful, not to strain. But now she is singing in the school choir again, gradually helping around the house, but we do not give her a lot of work, because there is another planned operation ahead. My grandmother was especially worried, she first brought her briefcase to school, because it was a very heavy briefcase, ninth grade, a lot of textbooks, heavy books, and we all worried not to move the occluder. And back the briefcase was worn by classmates. But now Christina has shown independence, said that she will do everything herself ... ".
But it is not possible to return to normal life yet: for example, we had to give up physical education classes, but Christina also found a great replacement for them - she started playing chess and is doing so successfully that she is already going to competitions.
And Christina does not part with headphones and player, she is a big music lover, and music brings her great pleasure. The girl really loves life and wants to enjoy all its colors. She says, “I want to do whatever I like. Go to your goals step by step. I want to become a doctor. She once dreamed of becoming a dentist, a pediatrician, now a cardiac surgeon, to save children. I want to be surrounded by loyal friends and to be healthy. "
Khrystyna’s mother, Oksana Volodymyrivna, is sincerely grateful to Ufond and all the people who were not indifferent to her daughter’s fate: “I want to thank the foundation.
