Lack of staff: which doctors are sought in Ukraine and how much they are willing to pay

According to grc.ua, the situation is similar with candidates in the field of "Medicine, Pharmaceuticals" - the number of vacancies for doctors is growing (especially during peak quarantines), but the number of resumes is decreasing. One of the reasons is low wages.

Kateryna Okunska, executive director of grc.ua, said that the trade union "Medicine and Pharmaceuticals" is one of the three most popular industries by employers. Thus, compared to last year, the number of vacancies in 2021 increased by 78%. Interestingly, the demand for medical professionals is growing every month. This is especially noticeable when quarantine restrictions are tightened.

The most active vacancies in the medical profession began to appear in April 2020. So, if in March there were 653 vacancies on the portal, then in April the figure increased to 1744. After that, the number of vacancies declined and began to grow again in March 2021.

"At the end of August, vacancies cover the need by 211%, which means that on average, two employers need one health worker at once. Despite the growing demand for health workers, wages are not rising. Thus, according to the results of the first half of 2021, the average salary of the category amounted to a little more than 14.7 thousand hryvnias, "Okunska said.

Who are looking for in Ukraine and how much they pay

The most actively looking for family doctors and therapists (15% of all current vacancies in the category), medical representatives (13%), junior and secondary medical staff (11%), pharmacists (10%), pharmacists ) and doctors of narrow specialization (9%).
Most offers of work in the medical field in Kiev (32% of all current vacancies in the category), Dnipro and region (17%), Kyiv region. (7%), Odessa and the region (6%) and Zaporizhia and the region (5%).

"The highest salary for candidates in the category of" Medicine and Pharmacy "is offered in Kharkiv and the region - the average in this category is 21.9 thousand hryvnias. In second place in terms of wages for medical workers - Odesa and the region - 20 thousand hryvnia. Kyiv closes the top three in terms of salaries - the average salary is 18.3 thousand hryvnias, "says Okunska.
