Truly good deeds are done in secret. Talk about them, and all meaning will be lost. © Tahir Shah. Why aren’t all of us involved in charity today? Is it a reluctance to help others? Lack of time or energy? Today , most people have lost their former values, more and more often we are striving to earn as much money as possible, to build a career until a certain age, to earn some social status in society . And so often we do not have enough time to take care of their loved ones, and sometimes at least find out how they are doing. And of course we never have "extra" money to help someone else. But charity is different, as different as the heroes of our column. Each of them has a completely different life, job, different income, but they all have one thing in common - the desire to help others, and thus make this world a little better. As always, our heroes will give us answers to the questions : "What is charity?", "You need to do charity anonymously, or it makes sense to advertise" and of course "Is it necessary to have a lot of money to help others? ” Leon i d Ostaltsev, ATO veteran, volunteer, founder of " Veterano Pizza ": Leonid, what does "charity" mean to you?
Charity for me is like brushing your teeth. This is the norm, not something cool or good that makes you different. It doesn’t make me better - it makes me a normal person.
Is it worth advertising charity? Charity can be advertised, but this process must be filtered. That is, it is not necessary to tell absolutely everything, but it is purely my principle. We advertise only 30% of everything we do. This is just to show people that this is the norm and no more, and not to make people feel that we are promoting at someone’s expense.
Should charity be done only by public and wealthy people ?
Not at all, it seems to me that it is everyone’s duty and duty. But rich and public people must show by their own example that they are the same as everyone else - normal people and that they are ready to help.
Do you think it is possible to instill in people the desire to do charity?
No, I don’t think you can instill that, but you can promote it. Then such a concept as "charity" will become a fashionable and modern phenomenon and everyone will want to help, because now it is cool to do charity. Yaroslav
Dobrovsky, leader of the NGO " Joint Efforts ": Yaroslav, what does "grace" mean to you ?
For me personally, charity is a special state of mind. It seems to me that everyone has been involved in charity in some form at least once in their life. After all, as I have already said, charity is a special state, it is an inner need of a person to help his neighbor and at the same time get pleasure from it. Everyone has their own notion of charity, some have it from the bottom of their hearts, from the heart, selflessly, and some may pursue selfish ends and populism. Only wealthy people should be
engaged in charity , is it the duty of each of us?Charity and mutual aid are exactly what should begin with each of us. And this should not be tied to the material side. If a person feels the need to help, if he or she empathizes and wants to influence the situation, he or she will look for opportunities to do so. Therefore, I believe that everyone can do charity, regardless of their wealth.
Is it necessary to promote grace and grace ?
I don’t think it’s necessary to advertise about it, and to shout to everyone "look what a good man I am, I’ve done good to someone." To me, it looks like self-publicity, and I don’t respect people who advertise and publicize it. I don’t want to be perceived in the same way, so I do charity work, but I don’t want to advertise it. If your intentions are pure, good deeds come from a sincere heart and you do not have a selfish goal, then you should be indifferent to how many people will know about it and how many will thank you.
I wish everyone peace and good in heart, thank you for your attention.
St. and Tlana Domanchuk ,
founder of the Internet resource "Life after the ATO" , volunteer:
What does "charity" mean to you personally? Each of us has a choice every moment - to give people good or evil. "Charity" - from the words "good (good) to give." This means not just sharing something material, but giving a particle of your warmth, taking the side of light. It is said that light people are especially visible in the dark. Ukraine is going through difficult times of losses and trials. And right now bright people, philanthropists, volunteers carry the burden, support the spirit of those who defend the Motherland. The war showed who is who.
In your opinion, is it worth advertising charity? Can this be a good example for others, or will it look like PR?
In my opinion, it is necessary to talk about charity in order to encourage others and set a good example. At the same time, one part of society will be inspired, admired and thanked, and the other - to say that it is self-publicity and it would be better "the left hand did not know what the right is doing." People react to what they carry. And this must be accepted. Such is the reality.
Do you think that only people with wealth should be involved in charity, or is it the duty of each of us? I repeat that "charity" is not only material things, but also time, attention, warmth, the desire to understand or listen quietly. Therefore, this value - "charity" is available to everyone.
What inspires you personally to help others? Personally, I am inspired by the result. If he helped at least one person, he spent the day in vain. You do not need to go to extremes and not try to "save the world". We need to be attentive to the situation and get involved as much as possible.
